More About Carrie Ann

Interview

Thank you so much for having me!

1. What or who inspired you to start writing?

After reading so many romance books, my brain couldn’t shut off. LOL. I talked to author Rebecca Royce and she told me to go for it. I’m glad she did.

2. How did you come up with ideas for your books?

I’m really a character author. I start off with who I want to write about and the plots and conflicts come from them.

3. Have you ever written a paranormal erotica book before?

I haven’t gone erotica before. But I do write paranormal with erotic elements. Meaning tons of story with steamy scenes. An Alpha’s Path was the first book I published and is the first book in the Redwood Pack series. A Taste for a Mate, the book that just came out, is the second book in that series.

4. What would you want your readers to know about you that might not be in your bio?

Hmm…I’m a chemist by day and a homebody writer by night! LOL. Oh and I’ve lived all over the world.

5. As far as your writing goes, what are your future plans?

Trinity Bound, book 3 in the series comes out at the end of March. Though there will be seven books overall in the series, the next book I’ll be publishing is actually a new book in a new seven book series called Dante’s Circle. Dust of My Wings is about an angel and will be out this summer. I have tons of plans and will keep writing until I can’t!

6. If you could be one of the characters from any of your books, who would it be and why?

I’d want to be Willow. She went through so much in A Taste for a Mate, but is stronger for it.

7. If you were the casting director for the film version of your novel, who would play your leading roles?

Hmmm.. Jasper would have to be Henry Cavil. Yum. For Willow? Summer Glau from Firefly. She’s so small but so strong!

8. Do you belong to a critique group? If so how does this help or hinder your writing?

I do. I love them. It’s an online group and I’ve learned so much. I’ve grown as a writer, but it does take time to help out others LOL. But I’m okay with that.

9.  What is the best and worst advice you ever received? (regarding writing or publishing)

Best Advice? Write. (Yeah, that simple LOL) Worst Advice? To ignore advice from others. (Yeah, never gonna happen LOL)

10.  Do you outline your books or just start writing?

I’m a huge plotter. My characters, series, books and chapters are all outlined before I even start writing. ☺ When you have a seven book series with tons of characters, you need to do that. At least I do.

11.  Do you have any hobbies and does the knowledge you've gained from these carry over into your characters or the plot of your books?

I love to cook, so I usually have an eating or cooking scene in all of my books.

12.  Do you have an all-time favorite book?

I can’t really say. I own over 5,000 romance books alone. But The Chase Brothers series by Lauren Dane is a series that I’ve read over 50 times. I just love sitting back and getting to know the brothers again in Petal, Georgia.

13.  Your interview will be posted March 9th. Is there a family Spring Break or tradition or recipe you would like to share?

We are so boring LOL! We usually have to work over spring break, but we try and take a day off and hike outside.

14. What is your favorite reality show?

Myth Busters. Is that a reality show? LOL. I hate normal reality shows LOL.

15. Who is your favorite actor and actress?

Henry Cavil and Kate Winslet

16.  Can you tell us a little about the black moment in your book?

There are a few dark moments. I know some people may be turned off by them, but my characters needed to reach a level of hell with a certain evil werewolf and demon before they could come back stronger. My stories always have HEAs, it just takes a bit to get there sometimes.

Thank you so much for having me!!

A Taste for a Mate

Excerpt

The man of Willow’s dreams walked out the door, but this time was coming back for her. She had a date with Jasper. Her heart pound in her ears and she felt like jumping up and down like a teenager. She bit her lip, holding back a squeal.

Jasper - the name suited him. Unique yet strong. Closing her eyes to savor the feel of his presence, she tried to recall every word he said, every move he made. The warmth from his fingertips against her cheek still tingled. She took a deep breath of his lingering scent and steadied herself before opening her eyes. An older couple stood staring at her with their lips pursed and brows furrowed. She must have been completely out of it not to hear the bell.

“I’m so sorry. I’m just having one of those days. What can I get for you? I have fresh cinnamon rolls for you if you would like.” She couldn’t wipe the grin off her face and helped them to begin her day.

Breakfast and lunch flew by. Cleaning the few tables inside her shop, she hummed to herself as she thought about the night to come. She had a date. The small mountain town they lived in had a decent selection of potential matches. But from what she observed, they were players or married. Sometimes both. Not until Jasper walked into her bakery did she noticed a man. And oh did she notice.

Carrie Ann...Have your world travels made it into your stories? Or at least elements of your travels?

I, too, love Summer Glau. When she is switched ON, into a killing machine, in Serenity, she is just kick-ass awesome. I also liked her guest turn on The Big Bang Theory.
