Writing Quotes

Substitute "damn" every time you're inclined to write "very"; your editor will delete it and the writing will be just as it should be.
Mark Twain

I really liked this. My first critique partner always told me to get rid of the word "very" which was quite a few times. I hated omitting the word and many times I did not. Now when I reedit older books that have not been published--guess what--I omit very but I don't fill in damn.
